Pre-requisites

This course is intended for anyone who has already undertaken a basic body massage course training and would like to further their understanding of domestic abuse and PTSD related to any kind of trauma in order to better treat their clients.

Assessment

Theory Assessment only.

Pass mark 70% or above

I do offer an additional practical session for £105 once theory course is complete

Learning Outcomes

To develop your understanding of the role, skills and qualities of a successful massage therapist in relation to the client who has experienced domestic abuse or is suffering with PTSD following any kind of trauma
To understand the precautions you should take as a therapist when treating a client who has been through trauma
To extend your knowledge of the physiological aspects of PTSD and be able to recognise both physical and psychological symptoms
To understand the physical and mental health benefits of massage therapy for the client who has experienced domestic abuse or is suffering with PTSD
To understand the effect of shock on the client who has been through a traumatic event
To understand why PTSD occurs
To learn about the link between PTSD and skin conditions
To learn about the link between PTSD and chronic pain
To increase your understanding of sexual abuse and learn how to deal with such clients with sensitivity
To develop your knowledge of the vagus nerve and how it relates to trauma
